Product Description

    Details

Stanton served as Secretary of War under the Lincoln Administration during most of the American Civil War. Edwin Stanton appeared on U.S. paper money in 1890 and 1891. The bills are called "treasury notes" or "coin notes" and are widely collected today. The original notes are considered by many to be among the finest examples of detailed engraving ever to appear on banknotes. The artists of the Merrick Mint have used an advanced technology over this modern uncirculated United States $1 bill, enhancing it with images from the 1891 $1 U.S. Edwin Stanton Banknote, to create a collectible work of art.
