  • For 230 years (1775 to 2005), the men and women of the United States Marine Corps have stood for those who could not stand. They have fought and died to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. Instilled with courage and determination, a Marine can be counted on to bear any burden, at home or abroad, in defense of liberty.
  • This 2005 U.S. Silver Eagle Dollar is fully colorized with the one of the most famous and historic images in the world, which shows the raising of an American flag by the United States Marines atop Mount Suribachi on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. Taken on February 23, 1945, it is believed to be the most reproduced image in the history of photography.
  • The coin also features the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, official emblem of the United States Marine Corps. Today's emblem has remained virtually unchanged since 1868. Also include is the Marine Corps motto that describes our commitment to each other, our organization, and our country. It is Semper Fidelis or "Semper Fi." Translated from Latin, it means "Always Faithful."
  • The coin is accompanied by its own Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Colorizing coins involves the application of special inks directly to the surface of a coin using a unique multi-color printing process pioneered by the Merrick Mint. The result is an everlasting colorized coin collectible of ultra-high quality.
  • Our Marine Corps 230th Anniversary Colorized Silver Eagle Dollar is a strict limited edition of 50,000 coins.
  • The Merrick Mint is proud to offer this limited-edition coin to pay tribute to the remarkable history of the United States Marine Corps.
